Cebu Open 2010 sets National Record

Cebu Institute of Technology – University Computer Students’ Society, in association with Philippine Cubers Association organized the Cebu Open 2010: Cubing Revival in Cebu at the New Academic Building Lobby last December 7, 2010. This activity is in line of the 64th Founders Day’s Celebration of CIT University. The speed cubing competition is sanctioned by the World Cube Association. James Benedict Cañares, an alumnus of CIT University is the WCA Delegate during the contest. 

Gian Sebastian Q. Lucero, the current NR holder of the Pyraminx with 4.86 seconds before the Cebu Open 2010 was beaten by his own new NR record of 4.27 seconds and best average of 5.13 seconds. He is currently studying at Cebu Institute of Technology – University. He is also part of the organizing committee, the Computer Students’ Society.
Lorenzo Bonoan, a high school student from Ateneo de Manila University sets another NR record for 5x5x5 of 1:23.78, beating his own national record during the Philippines Open 2009 of 1:33.59.
